My Story
Lady Suretta Thomas is an example of a virtuous woman—a woman who is yielded to God in every area of her life as she has a heart for people, especially women, as she heads the Women’s Ministry Department at her church. She believes that healing, happiness, and hope are key ingredients for building a life of limitless possibilities, and acquiring peace in spite of life’s challenges.
At the early age of ten, Lady Suretta faced her first significant challenge. She lost her mother, Olivia Dirtion, due to her battle with cancer. Her loss was further compounded with the abrupt separation from her four other siblings. She remained with her brother broken, but holding on to faith. The sudden death of her mother and separation from her siblings was devastating and opened many wounds. Her mother raised them to be a close-knit family, but through the fervent prayers of her grandmother, Carrie Patterson, she returned home to Boston where she was reunited with her family once again.

Healing for Lady Suretta came through the word of God instilled in her through her mother and further fostered by her grandmother, who really showed her the power of a praying woman. Lady Suretta found true happiness and hope again when she made a personal connection with the Savior while in college, where she later earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While studying psychology, Lady Suretta discovered her passion for helping those who are hurting in any capacity. She began to serve the community in ways such as feeding the homeless, and raising funds to make sure they receive proper care. Lady Suretta connected with people from all walks of life helping them on their journeys to heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Lady Suretta Thomas, is the wife of Pastor David Thomas and mother to their five beautiful girls (Dejanea, Aryanna, Dior, Dakota, and Dallas) and one precious son, David Jeremiah Thomas. She serves faithfully, alongside her husband, as the First Lady of Liberty Life Church, located in Avon, Massachusetts.
Today you can find Lady Suretta in the classroom as she is a kindergarten teacher. She believes the Lord has given her a gift to teach. She has a passion for children and she enjoys the extra special blessing of being a mother, as she adores each of them individually and collectively for the love and laughter they bring her each day! But when she is not in the classroom or at home with her own children, you can find her running her newly formulated book club for women, ReadHer.
It is through ReadHer where she intends to teach women that you must not take one another at face value. Women tend to dismiss one another by appearance or based upon someone else’s interaction or experience with that sister and not their own. She wants women to learn that you can only get to know your sister and what’s inside of her, when you begin to turn the pages of her life, as we all have a story to tell!

Aside from ReadHer, she proudly leads Game Changers, the women’s ministry at her church, Liberty Life, where she helps to teach women that God created them to create change in the world. This can only happen when they change the game by starting with themselves. She believes that this message of self-reflection is best accomplished through hands on creativity and forces them to think outside the box, by making vision boards, which holds them accountable to their goals and dreams!
Lady Suretta, though adamant about envisioning one’s future, understands that there is simply no future without God! As such she started the #SHEIS Movement, which encourages women of all ages to live their life in Him as we can do nothing without Him! In honor of this lifelong call and movement, she holds an annual brunch each Mother’s Day weekend in honor of her own mother who demonstrated a life led by God!
Her life scripture is Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” She declares with her whole heart that God has done this and so much more!
